FSANZ Board Outcome
The Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Board held a meeting on 5 August 2026 to discuss and decide on standards matters. The meeting communique is now available.
Approval - Food Ministers' Meeting notification
FSANZ has approved variations arising from the following application and proposal on 5 August 2026. FSANZ has notified this approval to the Food Ministers’ Meeting:
- A1306 – Chitosan from white button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) for use as a processing aid
- A1338 – Triacylglycerol lipase from Komagataella phaffii (gene donor: Yarrowia lipolytica) for use as a processing aid
- A1345 - Dextransucrase from Bacillus subtilis (gene donor: Streptococcus salivarius) for use as a processing aid
The Food Ministers’ Meeting now has 60 days to either request FSANZ to review the approved standard or inform FSANZ that it does not intend to request a review. Further information on the process is available from the FSANZ website: The Food Ministers' Meeting.

APVMA - proposed amendments to Schedule 20
The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) have notified FSANZ of applications or other proposed changes now under consideration, that may result in a variation to Schedule 20 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code).
Pursuant to section 82 of the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991, the APVMA has authority to amend the Maximum Residue Limits Standard, which is Schedule 20 of the Code. Prior to making a variation, the APVMA must notify FSANZ. For further information, visit the Maximum residue limits - variations webpage.
