Reporting food industry supply chain disruptions to regulators

Published

The Middle East conflict is driving disruptions to food industry supply chains globally.

These disruptions are placing pressure on the availability and price of ingredients, packaging and products, with potential flow on impacts for food businesses.

The food regulation system is taking a coordinated approach to supporting food businesses to report supply chain disruptions and seek regulator consideration of any associated Food Standards Code compliance issues.

If your food business is experiencing or expecting interruptions, you can reach out to your relevant regulator to seek advice.

Regulator contact details can be found on our Food regulatory agencies page.

Australia

In Australia, seek early guidance and use this pro-forma to report an issue.

The pro-forma is intended as a guide to businesses and jurisdictions, promoting consistency in response to requests for advice and consideration of compliance matters. Please note it does not override each jurisdiction’s legislative responsibilities or the exercise of those responsibilities.

New Zealand

New Zealand food business can contact the Ministry for Primary Industries for guidance and assistance.

FSANZ will continue to engage with industry and food regulation system partners to monitor the response and consider additional measures if necessary.
