Global One Health Day on 3 November highlighted how human, animal and environmental health are interconnected, a principle that underpins a trusted and resilient food system.
As part of the Australian Government’s One Health Network, we work alongside the Department of Health, Disability and Aged Care, the interim Australian Centre for Disease Control, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Network strengthens Australia’s preparedness for emerging health challenges and supports a coordinated response to cross-sector issues, including those affecting food safety. By sharing data, scientific insights and expertise, the Australian Government is better placed to address complex challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, foodborne illness and the impacts of a changing climate.
Together, we are helping ensure Australia continues to lead with a science-based, collaborative approach that protects consumers and supports confidence in the food we grow, produce and sell.
