Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) will soon complete updates to the Nutrition Panel Calculator (NPC) with a refreshed dataset.
Existing recipes will not automatically carry over to the updated NPC. Backing up your recipes now will help ensure you do not lose them during the transition.
Step-by-step: how to backup
Step 1: Open the NPC
Launch the NPC as usual. If you have existing recipes, they will be visible under ‘Manage personal recipes’.
Step 2: Backup your recipes
Select ‘Backup recipes’. This will download a file containing your saved recipes, which you can then store securely on your computer or network.
Step 3: Restore recipes in the updated NPC
When the updated NPC is released (in the coming weeks), you can add your saved recipes back into the system using ‘Restore recipes’.
It is important to make sure you restore your recipes before creating new recipes in the updated NPC. This allows all your recipes to be stored together in the same file.
Step 4: Check recipes
Check that your recipes have transferred as expected and that there are no updates needed based on the updated dataset.
Tips to avoid losing your recipes
Back up your recipes regularly, especially after making changes.
When you select ‘Save and close’ in a recipe, they are stored temporarily in your computer’s cache. This cache can be cleared from time to time. The most reliable way to keep your recipes is to use ‘Backup recipes’ and save the file securely.
Before creating new recipes, check that all existing recipes appear under ‘Manage personal recipes’. If your recipes are not visible when you open the NPC, use ‘Restore recipes’ to reload them from your saved backup.
