On 12 November 2025, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) rejected an application to amend the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit the use of Moringa oleifera leaf (fresh and dried), immature (green) pods and oil as a food or food ingredient.
Assessment
Our assessment identified a potential safety concern and the available evidence was not sufficient to confirm Moringa oleifera would be safe for consumers as a food or food ingredient.
