On 10 December 2025, the FSANZ Board approved changes to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit aminopeptidase Y from a genetically modified strain of Trichoderma reesei as a processing aid in protein and yeast processing, as well as flavour production.

FSANZ released the public call for submissions in July 2025. Feedback from this consultation, along with our scientific assessment informed our final decision.
