A1304 Endo-1,4-beta-xylanase from Bacillus licheniformis (gene donor: Chryseobacterium cucumeris) for use as a processing aid

On 29 April 2026, the FSANZ Board approved changes to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit endo-1,4-beta-xylanase from a genetically modified strain of Bacillus lichenformis to be used as a processing aid in the production of distilled alcohol and starch and gluten fractions.


Consultation and assessment

FSANZ released the public call for submissions in December 2025. Feedback from this consultation, along with our scientific assessment informed our final decision.
