Update on contaminated dairy products imported from New Zealand

​Food Standards Australia New Zealand is aware of Nutricia’s expanded recall of infant formula that may have been contaminated with Clostridium botulinum. The recall affects products sold in New Zealand only.
 
The recalled products in New Zealand are:
  • Karicare Stage 1 New Baby Infant Formula (from birth) – all batches
  • Karicare Gold+ Stage 2 Follow On Formula (from six months) – all batches
Investigations in Australia have confirmed that some affected product that had been exported from New Zealand to Australia has been traced and is under the supervision of the relevant authority.
 
Products available for sale in Australia are not affected.
 
Consumers should follow advice from New Zealand authorities if they are purchasing potentially affected products over the internet directly from New Zealand.

Update - 12 August 2013

Nutricia has announced it has narrowed the scope of its recall in New Zealand. The affected products are:

  • Nutricia Karicare Stage 1 Infant Formula (0-6 months), produced between 21 May 2013 and 2 August 2013 inclusive.
  • Nutricia Karicare Gold+ Stage 2 Follow-on Formula (from 6 months), produced between 21 May 2013 and 2 August 2013 inclusive.
