COVID-19 - impact of border restrictions on food production and food supply

(April 2020)

Food production, supply and logistics chains have been declared essential services, and are exempt from most border restrictions.

Some states and territories in Australia have closed their borders to non-essential travel due to COVID-19. For the most accurate and current information about entry conditions, forms and requirements, please refer to the government website of the state or territory you are travelling to.

Best practice for freight and logistics for any goods into a jurisdiction from interstate is that the driver must practice social distancing wherever possible, including maintaining a distance of at least 1.5 metres where reasonably practicable and remain isolated in their vehicle or accommodation.
