Foods and ingredients to avoid if you are allergic to sesame:

  • Aqua Libra
  • Benne
  • Benniseed
  • Gingelly seeds
  • Gomasio or gomashio
  • Halva or halva
  • Hummus
  • Pasteli
  • Sesame
  • Sesame seed
  • Sesamol
  • Sesomolina
  • Sim sim
  • Tahini or tahina
  • Til

Check labels on the following foods to see if they contain sesame and if they do, avoid them:

  • Asian foods
  • Bakery goods (e.g. bread, buns, biscuits)
  • Breakfast cereals or muesli
  • Crackers
  • Dips
  • Dressings
  • Herbs
  • Marinades
  • Middle Eastern foods
  • Muesli bars
  • Nutritional snacks
  • Pretzels
  • Salads
  • Spices
  • Spreads
  • Vegetarian food

Any food containing sesame or sesame derivatives must be avoided (e.g. sesame flour, sesame oil, sesame seed paste).

Bakery goods (especially unpackaged items) have a high potential for cross contamination with sesame seeds.
