Nutrition Panel Calculator
Food Standard Australia New Zealand's Nutrition Panel Calculator (NPC) has been developed to provide food manufacturers with the ability to readily calculate the average nutrient content of their food products and to prepare a nutrition information panel as required under Standard 1.2.8 - Nutrition Information Requirements , of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.
The legal requirements concerning Nutrition Information Panels are contained in Standard 1.2.8 of the Food Standards Code. Although FSANZ is responsible for making food standards, enforcement of those standards is the responsibility of State and Territory Health Departments, the New Zealand Food Safety Authority, and AQIS. There are important provisions in State and Territory Food Acts, the New Zealand Food Act 1981, and the Imported Food Control Act 1992 which provide various defences for failure to comply with food standards. One defence is that of 'due diligence', which may be used where a person exercises due diligence to prevent the commission of an offence.
