NOTIFICATION CIRCULAR 03- 04
This Notification Circular includes notices that are required to be given to the public, submitters and appropriate government agencies, under the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 (FSANZ Act). All references below to sections of legislation, are to the FSANZ Act unless otherwise indicated.

PROGRESS ON APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS
NOTICES. The notice below was published on the Food Standards Australia New Zealand website on 5 May 2004 and will be published on 7 May 2004 in The Australian and on10 May 2004 in The New Zealand Herald newspapers.
URGENT PROPOSAL [s.24(2)/s.25(3)]
FSANZ has declared that a specified proposal prepared under section 24 is an urgent proposal for the purposes of Part 3 of the FSANZ Act:

DECLARATION OF URGENCY
The Board of Food Standards Australia New Zealand (‘the Authority’) continued in existence by section 6 of theFood Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991(‘the Act’), hereby declare under paragraph 24(1)(b) of the Act that in order to protect public health and safety, Proposal P294 – Variation to Standard 1.4.2 – Maximum Residue Limits is an urgent proposal for the purposes of Part 3 of the Act.
