PROGRESS ON APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS
NOTICES. The notice below was published on 25 September2002 in The Australian and The New Zealand Herald newspapers as well as on the Food Standards Australia New Zealand website.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS GOING TO FINAL ASSESSMENT
After making a Draft Assessment of the following matter, the Authority has prepared a draft food regulatory measure and will be conducting a Final Assessment in relation to this draft.
- Proposal P263 - Raw Milk Very Hard Cooked Curd (Parmesan style) Cheeses
This proposal was progressed with one round of public consultation under s.36 of the ANZFA Act as the Authority was satisfied that they raised issues of minor significance or complexity only. Subject to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, application may be made to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for review of the decision (under section 36) by a person whose interests are affected by the decision.
You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority for consideration in the Final Assessment of this matter by 23 October 2002.
OTHER MATTERS
Under Review - The Australia and New Zealand Food Regulation Ministerial Council has requested the Authority to review its decision in relation to P154 - Royal Jelly .
Amendment 61 -to the Food Standards Code was published by the Authority on 28 June 2002. It includes amendments resulting from the following proposals:
- Proposal P248 - Stock in Trade provisions for Volume 2
- Proposal P252 - Transitional Arrangements for Repeal of Volume 1
Amendment 62 -to the Food Standards Code was published by the Authority on 17 September 2002. It includes amendments resulting from the following applications and proposals:
- Application A380 - Food Derived From Insect-Protected and Glufosinate Ammonium-Tolerant DBT418 Corn (Maize)
- Application A388 - Food Derived From Bromoxynil-Tolerant Canola Line Westar-Oxy-235
- Application A455 - MRLs (Nov/Dec 2001 & Jan 2002)
- Application A460 - MRLs - Antibiotics
- Proposal P240 - Labelling Statements on Reduced Fat and Condensed Milks
- Proposal P246 - Labelling Amendments Omnibus
- Proposal P254 - Minor Amendments Omnibus II
- Proposal P261 - Miscellaneous MRL Amendments
Gazettes were previously published by the Commonwealth as 'Periodic' or 'Special' Gazettes and as FSANZ has now taken over responsibility for the publication in Australia, amendments to the Food Standards Code are now published as the 'Food Standards Gazette' in Australia and made available on the Authority's website. The same notice is generally simultaneously published in New Zealand as part of the 'New Zealand Gazette'.
