INFORMATION ON ANZFA
In Australia, general queries about the ANZFA should be directed to the Information Officer at the Authority's Canberra office. In New Zealand, the Authority's office in Wellington should be contacted.
These offices can provide people without access to internet facilities copies of all public documents available from the Authority including those referred to below. They are also downloadable from the ANZFA home page. Copies of papers relating to applications or proposals referred to within this Information Circular can be directly viewed through the link provided.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS GOING TO DRAFT ASSESSMENT
The Authority has made Initial Assessments (Preliminary Assessment - section 21), of the following proposals, and will be making a Draft Assessment (Full Assessment - section 23) of these matters. You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority on issues relevant to this matter by 7 August 2002 .

After making Draft Assessments (Full Assessments - sections 15 and 23) of the following applications and proposal, the Authority has prepared draft food regulatory measures or variations, and will be conducting a Final Assessment (Inquiry - sections 17 and 24) into these drafts. You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority for consideration in the Final Assessment of these matters by 7 August 2002.

S. 37 INQUIRY COMPLETED
This matter was previously recommended to Council under s.37 of the ANZFA Act as a matter of urgency in order to avoid compromising the objectives set out in subsection 10(1)(a) of the Act, namely the protection of public health and safety. The Authority has now completed an inquiry into the variations made to standards and made recommendations to Council.

# Indicates matters progressed with one round of public consultation under s.36 of the ANZFA Act as the Authority was satisfied that they raised issues of minor significance or complexity only. Subject to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, application may be made to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, for review of the decision (under section 36) by a person whose interests are affected by the decision.
*These matters relate to Australia only standards that are not part of the joint regulatory arrangements with New Zealand however, food from Australia complying with these standards may be supplied in NZ. Anyone may provide submissions in relation to these matters.
OTHER MATTERS
Amendment Numbers 59 & 60 to the Food Standards Code published
Gazettes were previously published by the Commonwealth as 'Periodic' or 'Special' Gazettes and as ANZFA has now taken over responsibility for the publication in Australia, amendments to the Food Standards Code will now be published as the 'Food Standards Gazette' in Australia. The same notice is generally simultaneously published in New Zealand as part of the 'New Zealand Gazette'.
Amendment No.59 to the Food Standards Code was published by the Authority on 9 May 2002. It includes amendments resulting from the following applications and proposal:
