PROGRESS ON APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS GOING TO DRAFT ASSESSMENT
The Authority has made Initial Assessments (Preliminary Assessment-section 13), of the following applications, accepted the applications, and will be making Draft Assessments (Full Assessment - section 15) of these matters. You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority on issues relevant to these matters by 19 June 2002 .
- Application A432 - Mandatory Declaration of MSG by Restaurants & Food Outlets
- Application A466 - Transglucosidase Enzyme Processing Aid
- Application A453 - Trehalose as a Novel Food Ingredient
- Application A438 - Gamma-Cyclodextrin as a Novel Food Ingredient/Additive
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS GOING TO FINAL ASSESSMENT
After making Draft Assessments (Full Assessments - sections 15 and 23) of the following application and proposal, the Authority has prepared draft food regulatory measures or variations, and will be conducting a Final Assessment (Inquiry - sections 17 and 24) into these drafts. You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority for consideration in the Final Assessment of these matters by 19 June 2002.

MATTERS GOING BEFORE COUNCIL
The Authority has conducted Final Assessments (Inquiry - sections 17 and 24) to consider draft standards and variations to standards in relation to the following applications and proposals and has made recommendations to the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Council that it adopt the draft standard or variations into the Food Standards Code:

REJECTION OF APPLICATION
The Authority has made a Draft Assessment (Full Assessment - section 15) of the following application and rejected it. A statement of reasons for the decision is available from the Authority.
- Application A444 - Exemption from Notification for Fundraising Events *
# Indicates matters progressed with one round of public consultation under s.36 of the ANZFA Act as the Authority was satisfied that they raised issues of minor significance or complexity only. Subject to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, application may be made to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, for review of the decision (under section 36) by a person whose interests are affected by the decision.
*These matters relate to Australia only standards that are not part of the joint regulatory arrangements with New Zealand however, food from Australia complying with these standards may be supplied in NZ. Anyone may provide submissions in relation to these matters.
OTHER MATTERS
Subscribing to Electronic Publications
This is the first Food Standards Information Circular to also be distributed electronically to stakeholders with email facilities. As well as making information available on our website, the Authority now has the capability to distribute all of its publications in an electronic form.
The Authority is writing directly to people already on our records advising them how to directly access or amend their contact details and subscribe to any of our electronic publications. People not previously on our records are welcome to subscribe to any of our electronic publications through our website or by contacting Reception.
