PROGRESS ON APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS

NOTICES.  The notice below was published on12 December 2001 in the following publications:

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS AT DRAFT ASSESSMENT

The Authority has made an Initial assessment (Preliminary assessment - section 13), accepted the following applications for further consideration and will now make a Draft assessment (Full assessment - section 15).   You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority on these matters, including the potential regulatory impact on consumers, industry and government.   The Authority has extended the normal period for comment over the New Year period and submissions are due by 6 February 2002 .

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS AT FINAL ASSESSMENT

The Authority will conduct a Final assessment (Inquiry - section 17) into the draft variations to standards prepared at Draft assessment (Full assessment - section 15) of the following matters.   You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority on these matters, including the potential regulatory impact on consumers, industry and government. The Authority has extended the normal periods for comment over the New Year period and submissions are due by 23 January 2002 or by 6 February 2002 where indicated below.

#These matters will be progressed with one round of public consultation under s.36 of the ANZFA Act as they were determined to be matters of minor significance or complexity.   Subject to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act 1975, application may be made to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, for review of the decision (under section 36) by a person whose interests are affected by the decision.

MATTERS BEFORE COUNCIL

The Authority has completed assessments and drafted variations to standards in relation to the following applications and will make recommendations to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Council that variations be adopted into theFood Standards Code:

Amendment No. 57 to the Food Standards Codepublished

Draft Evaluation Strategy

ANZFA is seeking input and comment on its draft Evaluation Strategy through a public consultation process. The draft Evaluation Strategy outlines the framework for assessing the impact of implementing new regulatory measures on stakeholders and identifies specific evaluation activities for 2001-2003. The draft paper is available on the ANZFA website or can be obtained from the Information Officer. Submissions should be sent to the Authority by 6 February 2002.
