PROGRESS ON APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - MATTERS AT DRAFT ASSESSMENT
The Authority has made an Initial assessment (Preliminary assessment - section 13), accepted the following applications for further consideration and will now make a Draft assessment (Full assessment - section 15). You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority on these matters, including the potential regulatory impact on consumers, industry and government by 31 October 2001 .

The Authority will conduct a Final assessment (Inquiry - section 17) into the draft variations to standards prepared at Draft assessment (Full assessment - section 15) of the following matter. You are invited to present written submissions to the Authority on this matter, including the potential regulatory impact on consumers, industry and government, by 31 October 2001.
COUNCIL DECISIONS
On 13 September 2001 the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Council considered and approved a number of recommendations made by the Authority in relation to the following applications.
- A445 - MRL for Ethylene Oxide
- A413 - Irradiation of Herbs, Spices and Herbal Infusions

Submissions made to the Authority must be in writing but may be delivered by post or email. People wishing to lodge submissions via email should be aware the usual limitations relating to electronic transmissions through the internet apply. Email submissions must clearly include the name and full contact details (including postal address) of the submitter on the main body of the submission. Submissions sent by email should be sent to the Standards Liaison Officer at slo@anzfa.gov.au .
Use of New Terms for Assessment Reports
Forthcoming amendments to the ANZFA Act 1991will include new and simplified terminology being used in to describe the statutory process for amending the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. The reports produced by the Authority during the assessment of applications and proposals will also be renamed to align with the terms to be used in the amended Act. The new terms now being used in report titles are:
