Where a written report is requested, you are asked to complete the attachedReferee Report Sheetand return it to the applicant.

If you are asked to provide an oral report, a member of the Selection Advisory Committee or a person nominated by the Committee will contact you.   You may be contacted to provide further comments or clarification at any stage of the selection process.

When providing a referee report

·                 You should give specific examples of the applicant’s work and key achievements to illustrate the applicant’s abilities, knowledge, experience and personal qualities in relation to the criteria.

·                 Your comments and rating should be based on the applicant’s capability for the position in question, having regard to their work experience while they were working with you.

·                 Additional comments can be used to emphasise any strengths and weaknesses.

·                 In some circumstances you may not be able to comment on one or more criteria and you should indicate this accordingly.

·                 Written comments should not be prepared by the applicant for your signature.

·                 The applicant should be made aware of any adverse comments that you provide.
