FSANZ chairs the Food Safety Regulatory Economics Working Group and the Social Sciences International Liaison Group (formerly Quads groups).
These liaison groups provide an informal forum for government officials involved in social sciences and economics in food regulation to discuss and collaborate on issues of mutual interest. The groups have representatives from agencies based in the United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, South Korea, Canada and Australia.
The groups meet approximately 3-4 times per year by teleconference and webinar. Recent issues discussed include consumer research on nutrition facts panels, and costing health outcomes.
