NEW APPOINTMENT TO THE AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND FOOD AUTHORITY
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Health and Aged Care, Senator the Hon. Grant Tambling, today announced the appointment of Professor Chris Hudson to the Board of the Australia New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA).
‘I am pleased to announce Professor Hudson’s appointment. He has almost 30 years experience in food science in Australia, the USA and south-east Asia. This experience has been recognised by his recent appointment as adjunct Professor, Food Science and Technology at the University of Queensland. He is also the President elect of the Australian Institute of Food Science Technology,’ Senator Tambling said.
‘He joins a highly skilled Board which currently includes members of world standing in science and medicine and high level representatives of the food industry, the consumer movement and public health professionals. ANZFA is facing considerable challenges in the near future as it moves to review food standards to ensure they are effective and efficient and as it develops the new uniform Food Safety Standards.'
Professor Hudson replaces Dr John Keniry, a founding member of ANZFA’s Board, who recently retired.
‘I would like to thank Dr Keniry for his contribution to the achievements of the Board,‘ Senator Tambling said.
