Expressions of Interest - Specialist Register
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) – formerly the Australia New Zealand Food Authority, is a Commonwealth statutory authority with responsibility for developing food regulatory measures for Australia and New Zealand. Its primary role is to protect the health and safety of the people in Australia and New Zealand by developing food standards to help maintain a safe food supply.
FSANZ is seeking expressions of interest from highly skilled and experienced specialists, or organisations, to potentially provide advice on matters related to the assessment of applications and proposals to amend the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. FSANZ will prepare a confidential specialist register from these expressions of interest and specialists will receive priority notification for tenders and/or contract work as they arise within different areas and programs.
A range of background experience and skills is being sought including food science and technology, gene technology, toxicology, nutrition, social research, epidemiology, immunology or other related disciplines. Matters of immediate interest are the safety of foods requiring a pre-market safety assessment (especially genetically modified foods), food safety/hygiene, primary production standards, and nutrition and labelling issues.
It is expected that successful tenderers/contractors will have an appropriate level of experience, skills and knowledge, including recent experience in similar work. An appropriate level of remuneration will be negotiated with successful tenderers/contractors on a case-by-case basis depending on the level of complexity and time taken to complete a task.
Information gathered from projects undertaken by tenderers/contractors will be used to inform decisions made on the wide range of applications and proposals on food regulation matters coming before the Authority.
If you or your organisation is interested in registering an expression of interest please complete the attached Registration Form and email to specialists@foodstandards.gov.au. Inquiries can also be directed to this email address.
