COST RECOVERY REVIEW 2009
As required by the Commonwealth Government’s 2005Cost Recovery Guidelinesand good management practice, FSANZ has undertaken a review of fees applicable to those applications that have an exclusive capturable commercial benefit, or where applicants have opted to pay to expedite consideration. Cost recovery’ broadly encompasses fees and charges related to the provision of government goods and services (including regulation) to the private and other non-government sectors of the economy. Used appropriately, cost recovery provides an important means of improving FSANZ’s efficiency.
Costs were last adjusted in 2002. Internal reviews were undertaken in 2005 and 2007 to ensure that costs had not risen substantially. A Consultation paper which included the proposed changes was made available for a round of public comment from 23 September to 4 November 2009. A Final Report has been subsequently approved by the FSANZ Board and is available at HERE
As changes to the fee structure requires amendments to the FSANZ Regulations, it is expected that the earliest date for these changes to apply will be from 1 July 2010.
