This Notification Circular includes notices that are required to be given to the public, submitters and appropriate government agencies, under the  Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 (FSANZ Act).   All references below to sections of legislation, are to the FSANZ Act unless otherwise indicated.

NEW APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS

FSANZ has received the following Application; completed an Administrative Assessment of it; accepted it; and placed it on the FSANZ Food Standards Development Work Plan:  

GENERAL PROCEDURE

  • Application A1019 – Exclusive Use of Phytosterol Esters in Low-fat Cheese:   to approve the exclusive use of phytosterol esters in low-fat cream cheese and low-fat processed cheese at levels equivalent to 0.8 g to 1 g of free phytosterols in a 20 g serve [Received:   14 November 2008] [Applicant:   Kraft Foods]

FSANZ has prepared the following Proposals and placed them on the FSANZ Food Standards Development Work Plan:

GENERAL PROCEDURE

  • Proposal P1008 – Code Maintenance VIII:   To correct errors of minor significance or complexity (including typographical errors, inconsistencies, misspellings, grammatical errors, deletions and corrections of Tables) identified in the Code   [24 December 2008]
  • Proposal M1003 – Maximum Residue Limits (April, May June 2008):   to amend maximum residue limits for a number of agricultural and veterinary chemicals [Australia only] [28 May 2008

Food Regulation Secretariat

In accordance with the Food Regulation Agreement, the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing is responsible for the provision of secretariat services to the Australia and New Zealand Food Regulation Ministerial Council (Ministerial Council), the Food Regulation Standing Committee (FRSC) and the Implementation Sub-Committee (ISC).
