The most common method used by food businesses to notify the public of a voluntary consumer level food recall is newspaper advertisement.

Details of the advertisement:

• Minimum size is 2 columns wide and 10cm in height
• It should be enclosed in a diagonally hatched border, preferably with the internationally recognised safety triangle in the top left-hand corner
• It should appear in the front pages of the daily print media (if this is not possible it should appear in the first half of the newspaper)

The advertisement should be approved by FSANZ prior to publishing.

FSANZ will liaise with the Home State or Territory on the advertisement, where appropriate.
