SUMMARY OF KEY OUTCOMES
Application A528 - Maximum Iodine Limit In Formulated Supplementary Foods For Young Children (First Review)
The Board considered the First Review Report for an application which seeks to increase the maximum permitted quantity of iodine from 35 to 70 micrograms per serving in formulated supplementary foods for young children. The Ministerial Council requested a 1st Review on 15 September 2005. The Board re-affirmed its decision made at Final Assessment, and the Board’s decision has been notified to Ministers.
Application A533 – Food derived from Glyphosate Ammonium Tolerant Cotton Line LL25 (first review)
The Board considered the First Review Report for an application which seeks to include food derived from Glyphosate Ammonium tolerant cotton line LL25. The Ministerial Council requested a 1st Review on 17 November 2005. T he Board re-affirmed its decision made at Final Assessment and agreed to the recommendations in the 1st Review Report. The Board’s decision has been notified to Ministers.
Application A470 - Formulated Beverages (Final Assessment)
The Board considered the Final Assessment Report for an application which seeks to permit the addition of up to 16 vitamins and minerals to, and the use of a range of foods additives, in formulated beverages. The Board agreed to the Final Assessment Report and the Board’s decision has been notified to Ministers.
Application A500 – Fortification of Cereal-based beverages (Final Assessment)
The Board considered the Final Assessment for an application and that seeks to permit the addition of calcium to cereal-based beverages. The Application was expanded to include the addition of other selected vitamins and minerals. The Board agreed to the Final Assessment Report and the decision has been notified to Ministers.
Application A553 - Food derived from Glufosinate- Tolerant Cotton Line MO88913 (Final Assessment)
The Board considered the Final Assessment Report for an Application for food derived from Glufosinate-ammonium-tolerant Cotton Line MO88913. The Board agreed to the Final Assessment Report and the decision has been notified to Ministers.
Application A519 – lipase from penicillium roquefortii as a processing aid (enzyme) (Draft Assessment)
The Board considered the Draft Assessment Report for an application that seeks to approve a new source for lipase for use as a processing aid. The new microbial fungal source for this enzyme is Penicillium roquefortii. The Board agreed to the Draft Assessment Report and the Report has been released for public consultation, prior to further consideration by the Board.
Application A546 – Tara Gum as a food additive (Draft Assessment)
The Board considered the Draft Assessment Report for an application that seeks to approve the use of tara gum as a new food additive for use as a thickener and stabiliser for a wide variety of foods. The Board agreed to the Draft Assessment Report and the Report has been released for public consultation, prior to further consideration by the Board.
Application A548 – Food from Corn rootworm-protected & glyphosate tolerant corn MON88017 (Draft Assessment)
The Board considered a Draft Assessment Report for an application that seeks to approve food derived from corn rootworm-protected and glyphosate tolerant corn MON 88017. The Board agreed to the recommendations in the Draft Assessment Report and the Report has been released for public consultation, prior to further consideration by the Board.
Application A561 - Phospholipase A1 as a processing aid (enzyme) (Draft Assessment)
The Board considered a Draft Assessment Report for an application that seeks to approve the use of a new enzyme, phospholipase A1 as a processing aid. The Board agreed to the recommendations in the Draft Assessment Report and the Report has been released for public consultation, prior to further consideration by the Board.
Application A564 – Food derived from insect-protected corn line MIR604 (Draft Assessment)
The Board considered a Draft Assessment Report for an application that seeks to approve food derived from a genetically modified (GM) corn. The Board agreed to the recommendations in the Draft Assessment Report and the Report has been released for public consultation, prior to further consideration by the Board.
Proposal P282 – Primary Production & processing standard for poultry meat (Draft Assessment)
The Board considered a Draft Assessment Report for Proposal P282 – Primary Production & Processing Standard for Poultry Meat. This Proposal aims to address food safety within the poultry meat supply chain specifically to improve public health and safety and ensure that consumers continue to have confidence in the safety of the poultry meat they consume. The Board agreed to the recommendations in the Draft Assessment Report and the Report has been released for public consultation, prior to further consideration by the Board.
